THE BACKGROUND

With initial considerations of building their own home or buying a newly built property, the owners ended up deciding on the 80’s style, 4-bedroom brick home in Aspley.

The 1988 built house needed renovation to accommodate a growing family, on a moderate budget and in a short lead time.

THE BRIEF

The clients requested a functional and spacious home that would accommodate a growing family. With the owners wanting to keep a lot of the original features of their home, there was a lot of focusing on restoring rather than complete reconstructions.

The overall project ended up being on a tight deadline, with development beginning in November and completed in December.

THE DETAIL

Working within budget we managed to work with the reconfigured downstairs layout, making the kitchen the centre of the home. Working with OJ Kitchens to install a brand new kitchen, storage for the butler’s pantry and all electrical and plumbing.

We worked closely with Bella Vie Interior Designs, to ensure the design was on point. We installed cabinetry and shelving that extended from the butler’s pantry to the kitchen bench. Stone-bench tops were installed and natural oak flooring to give the space light and natural elements.
We restored the entire balustrade, so it was legal height, sanded and treated the stairs. We also installed an entryway seat that doubles as a mudroom. Finishing the space with a grey panelled front door.

For the living space, we stuck to brief when reclaiming the fireplace. We constructed the mantelpiece, adding tiles, paint & a wooden feature to finish it off.

We gutted both bathrooms, (ensuite and main downstairs), sheeted and fitted both with new tiles and appliances along with tiling the laundry and added cabinetry for excellent storage.

CLIENT FEEDBACK

My wife and I engaged Sam and the Askin Built team to carry out a large renovation and refresh project on our house in Aspley. From the very first meeting, Sam was personable and great to work with - and it stayed that way through the whole project.

We couldn't be happier with how the renovation turned out, and knowing that Sam was managing and coordinating all the various trades made the entire project as stress-free as possible. I would wholeheartedly recommend Askin Build to anyone looking for a quality builder!

Heferren Street House

We had a very specific client brief for the Hefferen House. Being an art collector, the client wanted the house design and function to adopt a gallery type feel.

As the owners have a growing family the focus was to keep the property’s original character & focus on improving its size & function.

The Winterfell House

The homeowners had a very clear direction of what they wanted this property to become.

Whilst they were focusing on ‘freshening up’ the property, with no plans of complete demolitions or major reconstructions, there was still substantial amount of construction required from our team.
